TrueBuilt Software, Inc. has acquired Capabuild in a move designed to connect artificial intelligence–driven estimating tools with real-time jobsite documentation.
The acquisition allows contractors to combine field data — including LiDAR scans and 360-degree site walkthroughs — directly with TrueBuilt’s AI-powered estimation platform. Company leaders say the integration will help contractors generate more accurate project scopes, improve production tracking and reduce costly change orders.
The announcement was made March 10 from Huntington Beach, where TrueBuilt is headquartered.
“TRUEBUILT was founded to eliminate friction in takeoff and estimation through AI—and acquiring Capabuild extends that mission onto the jobsite,” said Jon Sibley, Founder & CEO, TRUEBUILT. TRUEBUILT powers estimators with the intelligence to confidently scope and win more bids. Capabuild captures the clearest view of jobsite conditions to effortlessly track field production against budgets and estimates.“
Linking Estimation and Field Execution
Historically, construction estimating and field operations have relied on separate software systems, often requiring teams to reconcile inconsistent information between office and jobsite workflows.
By integrating Capabuild’s jobsite documentation capabilities with TrueBuilt’s estimating platform, contractors will be able to connect real-world site conditions directly with project budgets and production tracking.
“Capabuild’s mission has always been to bring clarity and accountability to the jobsite,” shared Stephen Llevano, Founder, Capabuild. “With TRUEBUILT, we can turn that clarity into a connected workflow that strengthens estimates, improves execution, and helps contractors operate with more confidence at every stage of a project. We’re excited to keep serving our customers while building what’s next together. Jon and the TRUEBUILT team share our obsession with practical, contractor-first innovation, and I’m thrilled to partner with them to bring this vision to market.”
Industry observers say bridging the gap between preconstruction planning and jobsite execution has become a growing focus across the construction technology sector.
Technology Designed for Real-Time Jobsite Insights
Capabuild’s platform focuses on mobile-first documentation tools for restoration and mitigation contractors, enabling teams to capture jobsite conditions quickly using smartphones and other devices.
The technology includes spatial scanning using iPhone LiDAR to automatically generate floor plans and site sketches. Contractors can also conduct 360-degree walkthroughs to document progress and provide visual verification for insurers, project owners and other stakeholders.
Additional tools allow contractors to map work areas, track time and materials and maintain digital project records through mobile forms and documentation features.
By feeding this high-fidelity jobsite data into TrueBuilt’s AI-driven estimation tools, project teams can generate more precise project scopes that reflect actual conditions on site.
The companies say this approach strengthens the feedback loop between preconstruction planning and field production.
Expanding Into the Restoration and Mitigation Market
The acquisition also expands TrueBuilt’s presence in the restoration and insurance mitigation sector, a market estimated to exceed $210 billion.
Restoration contractors often face compressed project timelines and complex documentation requirements tied to insurance claims and regulatory reporting. These conditions can create challenges when preparing accurate estimates or maintaining detailed project records.
By combining AI-driven estimation tools with jobsite reality capture, TrueBuilt aims to streamline workflows that are still largely manual across much of the industry.
In the United States, construction spending exceeds $2 trillion annually, highlighting the scale of opportunity for technology providers seeking to modernize project management processes and improve operational efficiency.
Capabuild to Operate as Standalone Brand
Following the acquisition, Capabuild will continue to operate as a standalone brand under the TrueBuilt umbrella while maintaining its focus on restoration and mitigation contractors.
Existing customers will continue using current workflows without disruption, and the company plans to maintain ongoing support and product development.
However, the combined engineering teams are expected to accelerate product development while enabling larger contractors and multi-location companies to scale their use of the platform.
Over time, customers will have the option to adopt AI-powered estimating tools as TrueBuilt gradually integrates its automation features into the Capabuild platform.
“Preconstruction and field operations thrive on shared, accurate data,” Sibley added. “For restoration contractors, Capabuild delivers frontline visibility, and TRUEBUILT supplies the intelligence to maximize it. Together, we’re building a platform that is practical to deploy, reliable to scale, and designed to help contractors operate faster and grow with confidence.”
Growing Role of AI in Construction Technology
The acquisition reflects a broader trend in the construction technology sector as companies increasingly adopt artificial intelligence and data-driven tools to improve project performance.
From automated takeoff software to real-time jobsite monitoring, digital platforms are rapidly transforming how contractors estimate costs, track progress and manage complex construction operations.
By linking AI-based estimation with detailed field documentation, TrueBuilt aims to provide contractors with a more integrated technology stack that connects preconstruction planning with real-world jobsite conditions.
Industry leaders say these types of integrated solutions could play an important role in reducing project delays, improving cost certainty and helping contractors manage increasingly complex construction projects.
