The American Concrete Institute used the International Code Council’s 2026 Annual Conference and Expo to connect with building code officials and highlight technical resources for concrete design, construction and compliance. The event brought industry professionals together in Nashville, Tennessee, providing an opportunity to discuss how concrete standards and guidance support building safety and regulatory implementation.
Held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center from October 18 to 22, the conference included an expo where ACI representatives discussed technical materials relevant to code officials.
Resources available through ACI’s Code Officials page include a downloadable Personnel Qualifications Document, Concrete International’s Building Safety Article Series and complimentary electronic copies of ACI codes referenced in the International Codes.
These materials provide technical guidance for professionals involved in reviewing, interpreting and applying requirements related to concrete construction.
The International Code Council develops model codes and standards used in building design, construction and regulatory compliance. Concrete standards form part of the technical framework that helps industry professionals evaluate structural design and construction practices.
ACI’s engagement with code officials supports access to concrete-specific information that can help inform code implementation and technical decision-making. Participation in industry events also gives standards organisations opportunities to share resources with professionals responsible for building safety.
For contractors, engineers, designers and building officials, access to current technical guidance is important when interpreting concrete requirements and coordinating construction activities. Industry conferences can help connect these stakeholders with organisations that develop and maintain technical resources.
ACI’s participation reflects its broader objective of advancing concrete expertise and expanding knowledge throughout the construction sector. Making technical documents and educational resources accessible to code officials can support more informed decisions across the building lifecycle.
