Workforce engagement and collaboration remain important considerations for construction companies managing diverse teams across projects and locations. DPR Construction marked Construction Inclusion Week 2026 with more than 500 events designed to encourage employee interaction, knowledge sharing and stronger workplace relationships.
Activities were organized across U.S. offices and international locations in Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Zurich. Employees discussed career experiences, shared professional advice and explored how communication and mutual respect contribute to a more inclusive working environment.
The events provided opportunities for employees to connect beyond their regular project responsibilities and learn about the experiences of colleagues across different roles and regions.
Individual offices developed activities around the broader inclusion theme.
In Atlanta, employees discussed experiences that influenced their professional development. Austin teams participated in activities focused on individual contributions and workplace culture.
Hartford employees created a board featuring career advice and professional lessons, including the importance of humility and respect. In Charlotte, a town hall activity used a world map to encourage employees to share their backgrounds and discuss how personal experiences have influenced their careers.
San Diego employees also completed a collaborative blueprint challenge during a company meeting. The exercise focused on communication, teamwork and collective problem-solving.
Discussions across locations addressed the importance of recognizing colleagues' contributions, listening to different perspectives and creating opportunities for employees to participate in workplace conversations.
The initiative also highlighted the role of everyday interactions in maintaining an inclusive workplace. Employees discussed how acknowledging contributions, asking questions and showing interest in colleagues' experiences can strengthen professional relationships.
The program emphasized that workforce inclusion requires continued participation rather than being limited to a designated annual event.
For construction organizations, these efforts are particularly relevant to project teams that bring together employees with different professional backgrounds, technical skills and responsibilities.
Construction projects depend on coordination among employees across multiple trades, departments and management levels. Workplace communication and employee engagement can influence how effectively these teams collaborate and share knowledge.
DPR's 2026 initiative demonstrates how construction companies can use organized workforce activities to encourage employee participation across geographically distributed operations. The focus on listening, recognition and collaboration also reinforces the importance of workplace culture in workforce development and retention.
