Leadership changes within industry associations can influence how manufacturers, suppliers and mechanical contractors coordinate education, industry engagement and business priorities. The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) has appointed Mueller Industries executive Roscoe Bufkin as its next Manufacturer/Supplier (M/S) Vice Chair, effective Jan. 1, 2027.
Bufkin, vice president of marketing communications at Mueller Industries, will work alongside Mark Becker of Victaulic, who will continue as M/S Chair under an extended term. The appointment establishes a succession plan that will place Bufkin in the chair position in 2028.
Bufkin joined Mueller Industries in 1997 and has held leadership positions spanning marketing, sales, operations and human development. His experience across these functions provides exposure to multiple aspects of the building materials and mechanical construction supply chain.
He has also participated in MCAA and other industry, professional and community organizations.
The revised leadership schedule establishes the following terms:
MCAA plans to formally welcome Bufkin during the Manufacturer/Supplier Council meeting at its March 2027 convention.
Bufkin succeeds Kristie Upton, marketing leader at Trane Commercial, who recently retired following a career in the building materials industry.
Upton will remain involved through the end of 2026 to complete the current education session planning process. Her continued participation is intended to support the transition and maintain progress on the council's educational activities.
Becker's extended chairmanship will also provide leadership continuity during the transition before Bufkin assumes the chair position in March 2028.
The leadership transition establishes a multiyear succession plan for MCAA's Manufacturer/Supplier Council, which connects manufacturers and suppliers with the mechanical contracting industry.
Bufkin's background across marketing, sales and operations brings experience from several business functions into the council's leadership structure. The scheduled transition also provides continuity for the council's education planning and industry engagement activities.
