Construction and engineering firms are increasingly using employee volunteer programs to support community organizations, with STV recently contributing direct assistance to families facing neonatal intensive care. Employees in New York worked with March of Dimes to prepare care packages for 50 families with infants receiving treatment in NICUs.
STV employees gathered in New York to assemble wellness packages containing decorated baby onesies and personal notes of encouragement. The completed packages were delivered to Mount Sinai Hospital for families navigating extended or difficult NICU stays.
Representatives from March of Dimes' New York Tri-State Market participated in the volunteer activity. The organization provides resources and support to families while infants are receiving intensive care.
The initiative coincided with renewed attention to NICU family support. March of Dimes reported in September that its NICU Family Support program had reached its 25th anniversary and now serves more than 50,000 families annually through hospital partnerships nationwide.
The volunteer effort continues a relationship between STV and March of Dimes involving employee volunteering, leadership and fundraising activities. STV personnel have supported the organization's initiatives in New York and Philadelphia.
For STV, the activity adds a community-support component to its employee engagement efforts, while March of Dimes continues providing education, resources and family-centered support through its NICU programs. The organization's NICU Family Support program also provides education for families, training for NICU staff and resources intended to improve the hospital experience.
Community engagement programs can give construction and engineering organizations a direct way to contribute to the communities where their employees live and work. STV's latest initiative focused on a specific need at a healthcare facility, providing practical support to 50 families while reinforcing the role of employee volunteerism in corporate community programs.
