Four people were hospitalized Thursday morning following a scaffolding collapse at a construction site in West Palm Beach, according to authorities.
The incident occurred around 7 a.m. at the Mr. C Residences construction site in the 300 block of Lakeview Avenue, officials with the West Palm Beach Police Department said.
Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene after reports that scaffolding had given way while workers were on site. The collapse resulted in multiple serious injuries, prompting a rapid medical response and temporary road closures in the surrounding downtown area.
All four injured individuals were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police initially said the victims suffered life-threatening injuries.
Later updates indicated that three of the injured workers were listed in stable condition, while the condition of the fourth person remained unknown. Authorities have not released the names of those involved, pending notification of family members.
Witnesses in the area reported seeing emergency responders administering aid at the base of the building before transporting victims by ambulance.
The cause of the scaffolding collapse remains under investigation. Officials have not yet confirmed whether structural failure, improper assembly, or another factor led to the incident. Occupational safety agencies are expected to review the site conditions as part of the inquiry.
According to its website, Mr. C Residences is planned as a 26-story luxury condominium development in downtown West Palm Beach. The high-rise project is part of ongoing development in the city’s growing waterfront district.
Construction activity in South Florida has surged in recent years, particularly in Palm Beach County, where multiple residential and mixed-use towers are under development. Safety protocols at large-scale construction sites typically require regular inspection of scaffolding systems, secure anchoring, and adherence to federal and state workplace regulations.
Authorities said additional details will be released as the investigation progresses. Meanwhile, officials are reminding contractors and workers to prioritize safety measures to prevent similar incidents.
