ABA Supports Jacob’s Hope with Free Renovations to Enhance Care for Newborns

Caroline Raffetto

The Arizona Builders Alliance (ABA), a key trade association for the state's construction industry, has announced Jacob’s Hope as the recipient of its annual Community Service Project. As part of this initiative, ABA will provide free construction and renovation services to help improve the nonprofit’s facility in Mesa, Arizona.

Jacob’s Hope, a Mesa-based nonprofit organization, offers specialty care for substance-exposed newborns and provides prenatal support to mothers on their recovery journey. The upcoming renovations at 1150 N Country Club Dr in Mesa will help Jacob's Hope expand its ability to care for more vulnerable infants in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Kim Davids, CEO and President of the Arizona Builders Alliance, stated, “By selecting Jacob's Hope for our Community Service Project, we're investing in the health and future of Arizona's most vulnerable newborns. This project showcases how the construction industry can make a significant impact on critical community needs and embodies the spirit of community service that drives our industry and demonstrates the positive change we can achieve when we work together.”

The project will involve various construction trades, including painting, flooring repairs, electrical work, and HVAC upgrades. ABA member companies will provide their expertise to enhance the facility, creating a safer and more functional environment for infants and their caregivers.

The ABA’s Leadership Development Forum is spearheading the project, showcasing the association’s commitment to social responsibility. With more than 350 member companies, the ABA encourages its members to donate resources and volunteer their time to make a direct impact on the local community. From construction materials to specialized skills, ABA members are coming together to make these renovations possible.

Lyndsey Steele, Associate Director at Jacob’s Hope, shared, “At Jacob's Hope, we work with limited space, hampering our ability to care for more infants in need. This generous support from the Arizona Builders Alliance will significantly enhance our ability to care for substance-exposed infants and their families. The free renovations will increase our capacity and create a more nurturing environment, directly benefiting the babies, their families, and even our staff.”

The renovations are set to begin in April 2025 and are expected to be completed by the end of June 2025. ABA members will volunteer their time and resources to ensure the success of this important project.
