A major highway program in the Greater Toronto Area is moving into a program management phase, with an AECOM-led joint venture selected to coordinate the technical, environmental and construction activities required for delivery. The appointment positions 413 Continuity Partners to support Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation on the planned Highway 413 corridor over a 10-year assignment.
Highway 413 is planned as an approximately 59-kilometer transportation corridor connecting with extensions to highways 410 and 427. The infrastructure program includes more than 170 bridges and 60 structural culverts.
The planned corridor is intended to improve connections between regional transportation routes and provide additional capacity within the Greater Toronto Area. The project is being developed in response to transportation demand across the region.
AECOM has previously supported work associated with the transportation corridor for approximately 20 years.
Under the assignment, 413 Continuity Partners will provide program management and technical leadership for MTO. Responsibilities will also include environmental coordination, stakeholder engagement and communications, as well as construction oversight.
The program will be delivered through multiple contracts and progressive delivery models. This approach will require coordination across different project packages and delivery activities as the highway advances.
The joint venture's responsibilities extend across the program lifecycle, providing MTO with management and technical support as individual components move toward construction.
Highway 413 represents a significant transportation infrastructure program in the Greater Toronto Area, with a scope that includes a new corridor, major bridge construction and structural culvert work. The 10-year program management assignment establishes a dedicated framework for coordinating the multiple contracts and technical disciplines required to deliver the infrastructure.
