SACRAMENTO, Calif.,- The Associated General Contractors of California (AGC of California) has revealed the winners of its 38th Annual Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA), hosted in collaboration with HammerTech at the CONSTRUCT 2025 Annual Conference on Oct. 9 at the Grand Hyatt Indian Wells.
The yearly awards showcase leading firms and individuals who demonstrate extraordinary commitment to worker protection and jobsite safety across the state. This year’s program marked significant growth, reflecting a broader industry-wide dedication to improving employee well-being and strengthening safety leadership.

"The growth of this year's program is a testament to the deep-rooted culture of safety that defines California's construction industry," said Peter Tateishi, chief executive officer of AGC of California. "The companies honored through CSEA exemplify the highest standards of professionalism and care—showing that safety is a protocol and a shared value that drives innovation, strengthens our workforce, and ensures every worker goes home safely."
The 2025 event drew several hundred contractors, executives, safety professionals, and student leaders, providing a key platform to exchange best practices that improve both physical and mental safety conditions on worksites.
Ryan Aukerman, president-elect of AGC of California and president of Griffith Company, emphasized that the industry’s mission goes beyond compliance: "As an industry, our mission remains centered on ensuring every worker returns home safely to their families. Safety is at the heart of everything we do—not just on the job site, but in how we support the mental and physical well-being of every employee. We know that safety is more than just procedures and equipment; it's also about promoting mental health and creating an environment where everyone feels supported. Together, we are elevating safety conversations, implementing new initiatives, and raising the bar for what it means to protect the whole worker."
Speakers included 2025 AGC of California Safety & Health Council Chair Devin Caringella of Clark Construction and HammerTech Chief Sales Officer Doug Rubingh. Distinguished Communications founder Deborah Ostreicher delivered a keynote focused on communication-driven team culture, reinforcing its role in boosting morale and injury prevention.
Looking ahead, the organization will present its Harry Eckstein Safety Professional of the Year Award at the Installation & Awards Gala on Jan. 30, 2026, in San Francisco—further honoring individuals whose leadership makes safety a top priority statewide.
