Construction safety programs are increasingly relying on streamlined field procedures and digital documentation to identify hazards and maintain accountability. Alcorn Construction is applying that approach through a 2026 review of its safety operations and an application for Red-level participation in the Construction Health and Safety Excellence program.

The CHASE program is a partnership between AGC of Colorado and OSHA designed to support safety and health improvements through collaboration and continuous program development.

Safety Program Review Targets Field Operations

Alcorn Construction is reviewing its safety processes with a focus on making procedures more practical for project teams while maintaining required safety controls. The review includes employee input, training, participation and the tools used to communicate and document jobsite safety.

The company has also changed its weekly inspection process. A 71-question checklist has been replaced with a 21-question format that concentrates on project-specific hazards and responsibility among project teams and trade partners.

Daily safety observations are being recorded digitally as part of the revised approach. Alcorn Construction said the change is intended to make observations easier to document and track across projects.

Alcorn's existing safety program includes OSHA training for project personnel, written safety walks and job hazard analyses. The company also uses third-party safety reviews and training.

Earlier Trade-Partner Documentation

Another part of the review involves trade-partner safety management. Alcorn Construction is collecting required documentation earlier in the project lifecycle and incorporating the process into project administration and management workflows.

The approach is intended to ensure that safety-related information is available before trade partners begin work onsite.

The company is also expanding the use of Procore for safety reporting and tracking. Procore's construction safety tools support digital inspections, observations, incident records and corrective-action tracking, providing a centralized way to manage field safety information.

Why It Matters

For construction owners and general contractors, the changes highlight the role of simplified inspections, digital reporting and earlier trade-partner documentation in managing jobsite safety.

The application for CHASE participation adds an external framework for continued safety-program development, while the internal review focuses on applying those practices directly to project operations. Alcorn Construction's changes also reflect the broader industry emphasis on maintaining safety processes throughout the year rather than limiting safety initiatives to designated awareness periods.
