TUCSON, Ariz. — A major milestone in the development of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s new casino was celebrated Monday as tribal leaders, local officials, and community members gathered for a beam signing ceremony at the construction site near Grant Road and Interstate 10.

The event marked a symbolic and structural step forward in the creation of the new Casino Del Sol property, a long-anticipated addition to the region's entertainment and economic landscape. As the final steel beam awaits installation, attendees had the opportunity to leave their signatures—representing both a literal and figurative foundation of community support.

“The team went out and talked to the community and had meetings discussing the plans and everything, and the feedback has all been positive,” said Interim CEO Amanda Lomayesva. “The positive feedback reflects the overall nature of the relationship between the tribe and the city.”

The $100 million development is part of the tribe’s broader initiative to expand economic opportunities and job creation for both tribal members and the surrounding Tucson community. Once completed, the casino will feature gaming spaces, restaurants, and other amenities designed to attract both locals and tourists.

Officials say the project is on track to be completed later this year, and hiring is expected to begin in the coming months, bringing hundreds of jobs to the area.

Monday’s ceremony included blessings by tribal elders, speeches from project partners, and a display of architectural renderings of the final casino design. Tribal officials emphasized that the project not only represents a new chapter in the tribe’s business operations but also reinforces cultural ties and community engagement.

“This project is more than just a building—it’s a testament to collaboration, vision, and the future of our people,” one tribal council member said during the event.

The site, situated just off a major freeway interchange, has been viewed as a strategic location for boosting economic development in the area. City officials echoed their support for the project, noting the positive working relationship between the tribe and the city of Tucson.

As the signed beam prepares to be hoisted into its final place atop the structure in the coming days, it stands as a symbol of progress and unity, bridging tradition with future growth
