Moore joined the company in 1976 and quickly became a key force behind its expansion. Over five decades, Big-D has grown into a nationally recognized builder with 18 offices across nine states, building a reputation for collaboration, trust, and consistent project delivery.
Throughout his career, Moore has held several leadership roles, including CEO, President, and Chief Operating Officer. His leadership has helped propel Big-D onto Engineering News-Record’s Top 100 and Top 400 contractor rankings, along with numerous regional honors.
“Fifty years at Big-D is an extraordinary milestone, but what Rob has accomplished during that time is even more remarkable,” said Jack Livingood. ”He helped shape the foundation of who we are today by leading with integrity, investing in people, and building relationships that last. Rob’s influence can be felt in every part of this company, from the projects we deliver to the culture we protect. His legacy is one of trust, consistency, and genuine care for our teams and our customers.”
Moore’s leadership has also contributed to more than 400 project awards, including high-profile developments such as the Salt Lake City International Airport redevelopment, further cementing the company’s reputation in large-scale infrastructure and commercial construction.
Beyond project delivery, Moore is widely recognized for fostering a people-first culture within Big-D. His approach emphasizes trust, accountability, and empowering teams to lead, helping the company maintain strong employee engagement and long-term client relationships.
“As we recognize Rob Moore’s 50 years with Big-D, we honor a legacy defined by an unwavering focus on the customer and a commitment to excellence,” said Cory Moore. “Rob helped shape the culture, standards, and direction that continue to define Big-D today. He led with tenacity and courage and built a culture grounded in discipline, accountability and a drive to win. Rob believed that if we took care of our clients, success would follow. The strength of Big-D today reflects his passion for building and his commitment to people. We are proud to carry forward the foundation he helped create as we continue to build the most sought-after construction company in the business.”
Moore’s influence extends into industry and community leadership as well, with involvement in organizations such as the Associated General Contractors of America and regional economic development groups.
Reflecting on his career, Moore emphasized the importance of relationships in the construction business.

“When I started here in January 1976, I was young and probably a little naive, but I was surrounded by good people and real opportunity,” Rob Moore said. “Over the years, I’ve learned that this business isn’t just about projects. It’s about relationships. It’s about earning trust, keeping your word and helping customers achieve their goals. If you work hard, stay loyal and offer solutions instead of excuses, the growth follows. Five decades later, I’m most proud of the friendships we’ve built, the reputation we’ve earned, and the people who continue to carry Big-D forward.”
