Residential developers use community planning, architectural design and project presentation to differentiate housing developments in competitive markets. Blue Mountain Communities’ Oakhaven development in the El Dorado foothills of Northern California received six honours at the 2024 North State Building Industry MAME Awards, including Community of the Year.
The awards programme, organised by the North State Building Industry Association, recognises achievements in residential development, construction and marketing. Oakhaven received recognition across six categories, spanning home design and digital presentation.
Oakhaven is a gated development comprising 29 homesites, with individual properties situated on lots ranging from one to two acres. The community incorporates single-storey homes near protected open space and established oak trees.
The development received awards for Best Architectural Design for homes exceeding 3,200 square feet, Best Logo Design, Best Use of Technology, Best Website and Best Overall Advertising Campaign, alongside the Community of the Year award.
The project combines residential construction with site planning that incorporates the surrounding landscape. Its larger homesites and proximity to protected open space distinguish the development from higher-density residential projects.
Oakhaven’s recognition spans both physical design and the digital tools used to present residential communities to prospective buyers. For homebuilders and developers, the results demonstrate the range of criteria evaluated in industry award programmes, from architectural execution to branding and technology.
Blue Mountain Communities has operated in Northern California’s housing market for more than 35 years, according to its published company information. Oakhaven provides an example of a low-density residential development that combines large private lots, single-storey homes and a landscape-oriented site plan.
