Construction companies and their industry partners can direct charitable giving toward health care services in underserved communities. Blue Rock Construction marked a decade of fundraising for medical care in Sudan with its 10th annual Blue Rock-Heart of Nuba Golf Outing, generating a combined $230,660 through event donations and a matching contribution.
The October 2026 announcement reported that the outing raised $115,330, with the Blue Rock Charitable Foundation contributing an equivalent amount. Since the inaugural event in 2017, the initiative has generated more than $1.73 million for the medical mission led by Dr. Tom Catena.
The latest fundraiser brought together business partners, sponsors, golfers and other supporters at Makefield Highlands Golf Course in Yardley, Pennsylvania. Matt Smith, senior vice president of strategic partnerships and development for the Sudan Relief Fund, also attended to provide an update on the medical programme.
Dr. Catena provides medical care at Mother of Mercy Hospital in the Nuba Mountains, a remote region of Sudan. The hospital serves communities with limited access to health services, while the country's ongoing humanitarian crisis continues to place pressure on medical resources.
Funds raised through the golf outing support Dr. Catena's work and the hospital's delivery of care. The annual event has become a recurring charitable initiative involving Blue Rock's network of business partners and supporters.
Blue Rock Construction operates from offices in Allentown and Newtown, Pennsylvania, and Burlington, New Jersey. The privately held construction business provides design-build and construction management services across multiple markets in the United States.
The fundraiser illustrates how construction businesses can use established relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and professional service providers to support causes beyond their project portfolios. Event sponsors represented a range of construction-related businesses, including electrical contractors, steel and concrete suppliers, fire protection specialists, roofing companies and equipment rental providers.
For construction owners and contractors, the initiative demonstrates a sustained model of charitable participation built around an annual event, a corporate matching contribution and a network of industry partners. The cumulative total of more than $1.73 million reflects the fundraising programme's development since 2017, while the 2026 proceeds continue its support for medical services in Sudan.
