FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Bob Peterson, a renowned home builder and remodeler with over 40 years of experience, has been elected 2025 Second Vice Chairman of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). His election was announced during the NAHB International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas, a key event for the construction and remodeling industries.
Peterson is the founder of Associates in Building + Design, Ltd. (ABD), a custom home building and high-end remodeling firm he established in 1990. While his daughters, Heather Schreiner and Alison Johnson, now own and operate ABD, he continues to serve as a consultant, lending his decades of expertise to the company.
“Our focus this year will be working with policymakers to ease burdensome regulations that needlessly raise housing and remodeling costs,” said Peterson.
“We will also seek to keep housing a top national priority and work with officials at all levels of government to ease the barriers that hinder the construction of new homes and apartments.”
A Legacy of Leadership in Home Building and Remodeling

Peterson has played a pivotal role in NAHB’s leadership structure at local, state, and national levels. He currently serves on:
✔ NAHB State and Local Issues Committee
✔ NAHB Budget and Finance Committee
✔ NAHB National Area 13 Chairman
He previously served as the National Chairman of NAHB Remodelers and was inducted into the NAHB Remodelers Hall of Fame in 2021—a testament to his impact on the remodeling industry.
Beyond his national contributions, Peterson has also served as:
🏡 Two-time President of the Colorado Association of Home Builders
🏡 Two-time President of the Northern Colorado Home Builders Association
His long list of accolades includes:
🏆 Colorado Home Builder of the Year (2008)
🏆 NAHB Remodeler of the Year (2007)
🏆 Colorado Remodeler of the Year (2002)
🏆 Northern Colorado HBA Remodeler of the Year (1997)
Commitment to Education and Industry Development
Peterson is not only a respected builder and remodeler but also a passionate educator. He is certified to teach seven NAHB designation courses and frequently trains fellow professionals in conjunction with NAHB’s continuing education programs.
“Education is key to driving excellence in our industry, and I am committed to helping train the next generation of home builders and remodelers,” Peterson has stated in previous interviews.
Peterson holds BA and MA degrees from the University of Northern Colorado and resides in Windsor, Colo.
Looking Ahead: A Path to NAHB Chairmanship
NAHB’s newly elected senior officers serve on a multi-year leadership ladder, positioning Peterson to become Chairman of NAHB’s Board of Directors in 2027.
As he steps into this new national leadership role, Peterson remains dedicated to advancing housing policies, reducing regulatory burdens, and fostering workforce development—ensuring that homeownership remains accessible and attainable for future generations.
