Early career exposure is an important part of construction workforce development, particularly as contractors seek to introduce younger generations to skilled trades and industry careers. The Boldt Company recently participated in a Michigan community event that gave children and families an opportunity to explore construction-related careers.
Boldt's Wixom office participated in the fourth annual Touch-a-Truck event hosted by the Lyon Township Downtown Development Authority at Lowe's in New Hudson, Michigan.

The event attracted nearly 1,100 attendees and included 33 businesses and organizations. The program was designed to give children and families direct exposure to construction, skilled trades and other career options.
Boldt brought a construction vehicle to the event and provided children with opportunities to interact with construction equipment and safety gear.
Boldt interns Krista Van Dis, Alexis Graye and Josh Rios supported the company's participation. They distributed children's safety vests and construction-themed materials while helping young attendees try on safety helmets and learn about construction work.
The event provided an informal setting for families to ask questions and learn about the types of careers available across the construction industry.
Community events such as Touch-a-Truck give contractors an opportunity to introduce construction careers to students and families before they begin making formal education or career decisions.
Boldt operates across healthcare, power, industrial, education and commercial construction markets. The company is headquartered in Appleton, Wisconsin, and operates 17 offices across the United States.
Introducing children to construction equipment, safety practices and career options can support longer-term workforce awareness. For contractors, early outreach provides an opportunity to build connections with communities and help younger generations understand the range of skilled and professional roles within construction.
