A house under construction on North Brown Station Drive in Boone County was completely consumed by fire on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in significant damage to the structure and surrounding area.

Boone County fire crews were called to the scene at 12:47 p.m. and arrived to find the house fully engulfed in flames, with parts of the structure having collapsed. Assistant Fire Chief Gale Blomenkamp reported to KOMU 8 that the situation was dire, with fire spreading quickly to a nearby wooded area. This fire spread into a grass fire that ultimately burned across 5 acres of land.

Fortunately, there were no injuries, as no one was inside the house at the time of the fire. Blomenkamp confirmed that the house was still under construction, which meant that no workers or residents were on-site during the incident.

Firefighters continued to work on-site throughout the afternoon, with some still trying to contain the remaining portions of the structure. Around 2:15 p.m., they were seen addressing one of the remaining walls, which had not yet collapsed.

Blomenkamp acknowledged that determining the exact cause of the fire would be challenging due to the extensive damage to the house. “It’s going to be very difficult,” he said, emphasizing the difficulty of investigating the cause under such circumstances.

As of now, the investigation into the fire’s cause is still ongoing. The local fire department has been working closely with other authorities to address any potential hazards, including ensuring that the surrounding area remains safe.

The fire has raised questions regarding the safety protocols for homes under construction, especially concerning fire prevention. As of this update, no official cause has been announced, but the incident remains under investigation.

This story will continue to be updated as more information becomes available.
