Growing workforce and training requirements are driving Brasfield & Gorrie's expansion of its Birmingham headquarters, adding significant office and conference capacity while increasing the company's ability to accommodate new employees.
Brasfield & Gorrie has started construction on a four-story, 88,000-square-foot addition to its existing headquarters in Birmingham's Lakeview District.
The approximately $65 million project will provide additional office space and conference rooms intended to support employee training as well as programs involving the company's construction partners.
The expansion follows the recent completion of a fourth level on the company's headquarters parking deck. The additional parking capacity was developed to support continued workforce growth.
Brasfield & Gorrie expects the headquarters expansion to support a minimum of 80 additional full-time jobs, with the positions carrying an average annual salary of approximately $82,000.
The company has added more than 600 positions in Alabama over the past five years across corporate and field operations. The headquarters investment also builds on more than $100 million that Brasfield & Gorrie says it has invested in the facility over recent years.
The project is being developed in coordination with the city of Birmingham, Jefferson County and the state of Alabama.
The headquarters project comes amid continued employment growth in Alabama's commercial construction sector. According to a 2026 economic impact study cited by Brasfield & Gorrie, the state's commercial construction industry added more than 5,000 jobs between 2021 and 2023.
For Brasfield & Gorrie, the new headquarters capacity is tied directly to workforce expansion and employee development. Additional office and training space can provide room for both corporate operations and construction-related education as the organization grows.
The expansion demonstrates how established construction companies are investing in headquarters infrastructure to accommodate workforce growth, training and partner collaboration. For construction owners and contractors, the project also highlights the continued importance of workplace capacity as companies expand their regional operations.
