Construction has advanced on a major education project in Greenville, South Carolina, with the completion of the structural steel framework marking another step toward expanded academic and athletic facilities. The milestone reflects continued progress on a campus development that is being delivered while the K-12 school remains fully operational.

Campus Expansion Progress

Brasfield & Gorrie has completed the topping out phase of the 81,500-square-foot expansion at Christ Church Episcopal School. The project consists of two new buildings designed to support both classroom instruction and student athletics.

The academic component includes a 22,000-square-foot education building featuring science laboratories, classrooms and collaborative learning spaces. The structure will connect to the existing campus through an elevated pedestrian bridge.

The second facility is a 59,500-square-foot sports performance center that will include a basketball court, strength and conditioning areas, hydrotherapy amenities, indoor turf space and locker rooms. Site work also includes improvements to the campus loop road to accommodate the expanded facilities.

Construction on an Active School Campus

Maintaining normal school operations has remained a key consideration throughout construction. Brasfield & Gorrie is coordinating project activities with school administrators to align major construction milestones with academic and athletic schedules.

The project delivery plan also includes phased work intended to provide early access to athletic facilities, including completion of the practice field in time for fall sports activities.

McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture is serving as the project architect, and construction is expected to conclude during the summer of 2027.

Education Construction Activity in South Carolina

The project adds to Brasfield & Gorrie's portfolio of work across South Carolina, where the contractor has completed nearly 200 projects since establishing its Greenville office in 2013.

For construction owners and education sector stakeholders, the project highlights the growing investment in modern learning environments that combine academic, athletic and site infrastructure improvements while minimizing disruption to occupied campuses. Delivering complex projects within active educational settings continues to require phased scheduling, close coordination with facility operators and careful planning to maintain safety and daily operations.
