The six-story facility, being built by DPR Construction, is designed to increase specialty healthcare access while giving the system flexibility to scale services as patient demand grows in South Florida.
The project will open with 75 exam rooms and infrastructure to support a future expansion to 123 rooms. Planned medical services include cardiovascular care, neuroscience, and orthopedic treatment programs, alongside supporting clinical functions such as phlebotomy and outpatient diagnostic services.
Healthcare developers and construction firms are increasingly prioritizing adaptable outpatient facilities as providers shift more services away from traditional hospital campuses. For owners and operators, expandable medical office buildings offer long-term flexibility while helping reduce future redevelopment costs.
The Deerfield Beach project also reflects broader healthcare construction trends emphasizing operational efficiency and accelerated project delivery. DPR Construction said it is incorporating prefabrication and self-perform construction methods to improve coordination, quality control, and construction productivity throughout the build process.
Given the project’s coastal Florida location, resiliency measures were integrated into the facility’s structural design. The building is engineered to resist hurricane-force winds reaching 170 mph, while exterior glazing systems are designed to protect against windborne debris in accordance with Florida code requirements.
The top two floors of the structure will initially remain shelled, allowing Broward Health to expand clinical operations as regional healthcare demand evolves over time.
Project partners include The Beck Group, DMZ Architects, Newmark, Concord Healthcare Development, Centurion, and Remedy Medical Properties.
The new outpatient facility is expected to open in 2027.
For healthcare owners and developers, Broward Health’s Deerfield Beach project highlights the growing importance of flexible outpatient facilities that can adapt to future patient demand without requiring major redevelopment. Designing shelled expansion space into the building allows the health system to scale services over time while managing long-term capital costs more efficiently.
The project also reflects how owners are increasingly prioritizing resilient construction in climate-sensitive regions. With hurricane-resistant engineering and impact-protected building systems, the facility demonstrates how healthcare providers are investing in operational continuity and risk reduction as extreme weather concerns continue to influence construction planning in coastal markets.
In addition, the use of prefabrication and self-perform construction strategies signals a broader industry shift toward delivery methods that can improve schedule certainty, labor coordination, and quality control. For owners facing rising healthcare construction costs and tight project timelines, these approaches may help reduce delays and improve overall project efficiency.
