Buc-ee’s Moves Ahead with Arkansas Debut After Securing Final Construction Permits

Construction is ramping up in Benton, Arkansas, as Buc-ee’s has officially received all necessary permits to begin full-scale development of its first location in the state.

City officials announced that crews are wrapping up groundwork just four months after the project’s groundbreaking. The site is located at Exit 114 near Haskell and is expected to bring 250 new jobs to the region.

“We are happy to say that they have purchased and received all the required permits to start the building of the travel center, gas pumps and parking lots,” said officials from the City of Benton. “Those permits include HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Landscaping, and Building Construction. We expect to see noticeable changes on the property real soon.”

The new travel center will offer Buc-ee’s signature amenities, including 120 fueling stations, fresh barbecue, handmade fudge, thousands of snack and grocery options, and a large retail space featuring home décor.

Once complete, the Benton location will mark Buc-ee’s first footprint in Arkansas, adding to the Texas-based chain’s growing presence across the South and Midwest.

What Makes Buc-ee’s Unique?

Buc-ee’s is known for its sprawling, ultra-clean rest stops, over-the-top food options, and Texas-sized convenience stores that double as roadside destinations. The company has built a cult following for its massive layout, friendly service, and famously clean bathrooms.

Economic Boost for Benton

The Benton project is expected to create both permanent retail jobs and temporary construction employment, serving as a boost to the local economy. City leaders view Buc-ee’s arrival as a sign of growing commercial development in the area surrounding I-30.

Timeline and What’s Next

With dirt work nearly complete and all permits secured, vertical construction of the building, fuel stations, and parking infrastructure is expected to begin shortly. The official opening date has not been announced, but residents can expect noticeable changes on the property in the coming months.

Buc-ee’s Regional Expansion

The Benton location joins Buc-ee’s broader push into new states, with recent openings or announcements in Missouri, Kentucky, Colorado, and now Arkansas. The company’s expansion reflects its strategy of targeting highway corridors with high travel volume and long stretches between amenities.
