Kansas City, Missouri, supplier development programs can help construction and infrastructure organizations expand their networks of qualified small businesses. Burns & McDonnell, Evergy and Ralph G. Moore & Associates have completed another six-month Accelerate program aimed at strengthening the business capabilities of small and diverse suppliers.
Nearly 40 business leaders completed the latest Accelerate session and were recognized during an Aug. 25 graduation event.
The program combines business training with mentorship and industry connections. Participants were paired with sponsors from Burns & McDonnell or Evergy, giving them access to guidance intended to support business development and preparation for future opportunities.
Ralph G. Moore & Associates contributed expertise in supplier diversity and business development as part of the initiative.
The program provides participating businesses with practical knowledge and industry relationships that can support their ability to compete for new opportunities and strengthen internal capabilities.
Burns & McDonnell reported that its work with more than 2,700 small businesses globally generated $5.9 billion in economic impact during the past five years. Accelerate is part of the organization's broader small-business development efforts.
For construction owners and contractors, stronger small-business capabilities can contribute to a broader pool of suppliers and specialty businesses available for procurement and project work.
