The Kansas City Chiefs have appointed Burns & McDonnell to provide owner's representative services for the organization's planned $300 million practice facility and headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. The appointment marks an early milestone for the project as design and construction planning moves forward.
Burns & McDonnell will partner with CAA ICON to provide project leadership throughout planning, design, construction, and occupancy of the new football operations and business headquarters.
The team will coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders while supporting schedule management, budget oversight, risk management, and overall project execution on behalf of the Chiefs.
The new practice facility and headquarters will occupy approximately 155 acres near the intersection of College Boulevard and Ridgeview Road in Olathe.
In addition to the football operations complex, the development will include a mixed-use component. The Chiefs expect the new headquarters to open ahead of the 2031 NFL season, with additional project announcements anticipated as design and construction activities progress.
Large sports facility developments generate opportunities across commercial construction, engineering, infrastructure, and specialty trades. For construction owners, contractors, and developers, the appointment of an owner's representative signals the transition into detailed planning and project delivery, positioning the headquarters project to advance through design, procurement, and construction over the coming years.
