Santa Paula, CA — Caltrans has officially begun the long-anticipated pavement rehabilitation project on State Route 150 (SR-150), stretching from just north of Bridge Road to the State Route 126 (SR-126) interchange in Santa Paula. The $18.9 million SR-150 Santa Paula Pavement Project is set to modernize more than 3 miles of roadway, with work starting in summer 2025 and continuing through spring 2027.
The primary goal of the project is to extend the life of the aging roadway while significantly improving ride quality, traffic operations, and overall safety. The scope goes far beyond basic resurfacing, incorporating a series of infrastructure and accessibility enhancements aimed at serving both motorists and pedestrians.
Key upgrades will include:
Construction will start near Bridge Road and progress southeast toward the SR-126 interchange. Initial activities, such as utility marking, surveying, and the placement of construction signage, will occur during regular daytime hours. Once preliminary work is completed, lane closures may follow to accommodate more intensive operations.
To minimize disruptions, major roadway excavation and resurfacing will be scheduled during weekday overnight hours, with at least one lane kept open in each direction at all times to ensure access for local commuters, emergency services, and businesses.
Caltrans encourages drivers to remain alert in construction zones and consider alternate routes when possible. “We urge all travelers to be mindful of construction crews, use alternate routes when possible, and follow posted signs,” the agency said in its project announcement.
Updates will be available on the Caltrans District 7 website and social media channels, along with real-time traffic and closure alerts.
The SR-150 upgrade represents a significant investment in Ventura County’s transportation network, promising smoother roads, safer pedestrian crossings, better bike infrastructure, and more reliable traffic flow for years to come.
