Canton Construction Worker Injured After Being Pinned by Wall

CANTON, Mass. — Emergency crews responded Monday morning to a serious construction accident at 10 Lake Road in Canton, Massachusetts, where a worker was injured after being pinned beneath a wall at a residential building site.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:23 a.m. at a property where a two-story home is under active construction. According to officials, the worker was on the second floor of the structure when the accident happened.

From Sky 5 aerial footage, first responders could be seen carefully tending to the injured man, who was lying on his back beside a partially framed wall. Fire officials confirmed that the man had been pinned when the wall came down unexpectedly.

“It’s under investigation right now. I believe they were trying to lift it up, something happened, and the wall came back down on them,” said Canton Fire Chief Wendell Robery.

Despite the severity of the situation, firefighters said the worker remained conscious and was able to speak with rescuers. He suffered back and leg injuries.

Canton Fire used a ladder truck to position a basket stretcher on the second floor. Crews stabilized the man, secured him for transport, and carefully lowered him to the ground using a specialized hauling system.

“We treated him up on the roof, and then brought him off to the ground with a hauling system,” Robery added.

The worker was then transported by ambulance to a Boston hospital for further treatment. At this time, the full extent of his injuries has not been released.

The accident is under active review by local authorities, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has also opened an investigation into the incident, which is standard protocol for workplace accidents involving construction injuries.

Construction sites remain some of the most hazardous workplaces in the U.S., with falls, equipment mishaps, and structural failures ranking among the most common causes of injury. Officials have not yet disclosed whether additional safety concerns were identified at the site, but the incident underscores the risks construction workers face daily in the field.

The home’s construction is ongoing, but no timeline has been given for resumption of work at the Lake Road project pending investigation results.
