Several Cemex operations across the United States have received recognition from the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) for community engagement and environmental practices. The 2026 Awards of Excellence program honored facilities in Arizona, Colorado, Florida and Texas across two award categories.
Cemex's Marana Apex Quarry in Arizona received a Gold Community Relations Excellence Award. The NSSGA program recognizes operations that strengthen relationships with surrounding communities through outreach and engagement.
Two additional Cemex facilities received Silver recognition in the category. Center Hill Mine in Florida and Lyons Cement Plant in Colorado were among the operations recognized for community relations efforts.
The awards reflect activities involving local organizations and stakeholder engagement around Cemex's aggregate and cement operations. Such programs are part of how materials producers maintain relationships with communities located near extraction, processing and manufacturing facilities.
Cemex also received multiple Environmental Excellence Awards for practices involving environmental controls, operating systems and resource management.
Four facilities received Silver awards: Alico Quarry, Balcones Quarry, Davenport Sand and Krome Quarry. Alico Quarry, Davenport Sand and Krome Quarry are located in Florida, while Balcones Quarry is in Texas.
Eight Florida operations received Bronze Environmental Excellence Awards. The facilities are Center Hill Mine, Deerfield Sand Mine, Four Corners Sand Mine, Gator Sand Mine, Immokalee Sand Mine, Lake Wales Sand Mine, St. Catherine Quarry and Union Sand Mine.
The recognition covers operational practices intended to support environmental performance and protection of natural habitats. For aggregates and construction materials producers, environmental management is closely tied to the operation of quarries, mines and processing facilities.
The NSSGA awards highlight how construction materials operations are being evaluated not only on production but also on community relations and environmental management. For owners, contractors and developers, these practices are relevant to the supply chain because aggregates, cement and ready-mix concrete are fundamental inputs for buildings, transportation projects and other infrastructure.
The recognition also underscores the range of operational considerations involved in maintaining materials facilities, from community outreach to environmental controls and resource management.
