ChristianaCare Marks Milestone for Aston Hospital

ASTON, Pa. — ChristianaCare leaders, local officials, and community members gathered this week to celebrate a key step forward in the development of the new ChristianaCare Hospital, Aston — a neighborhood hospital designed to expand vital health services in Delaware County.

A ceremonial beam-signing event on July 9 officially marked the completion of the hospital’s structural steel phase, symbolizing steady progress toward its planned opening in the second half of 2026.
“This is an exciting moment, not just for ChristianaCare, but for the Aston community,” said Pauline Corso, president of Ambulatory Network Continuity and Growth at ChristianaCare.
“We’re building more than just a hospital. We’re building relationships, trust and access to much-needed care where people live.”
Located at 700 N. Turner Way, the new 20,000-square-foot facility will operate 24/7, featuring a full-service emergency department, inpatient beds, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory services — bridging the gap between traditional urgent care centers and large regional hospitals.
“Signing this commemorative beam is a proud and meaningful milestone,” said Jim Bennett, MHA, BSN, FACHE, market CEO for ChristianaCare-Emerus.
“This hospital will bring vital, high-quality care to the people of Aston Township — close to home and when they need it most.”
The project is being developed in partnership with Emerus Holdings, Inc., the nation’s leading developer of neighborhood hospitals, which specializes in creating smaller, community-focused facilities designed to deliver convenient care without long wait times.

In addition to emergency services, the Aston hospital will house 10 inpatient beds, advanced diagnostic imaging (CT, X-ray, ultrasound), and provide virtual consultations with medical specialists — such as cardiologists and neurologists — ensuring residents get timely access to higher-level care when needed.
The second floor will serve as a health center, offering primary and specialty care, enabling families in Aston Township and nearby communities to establish a lasting relationship with trusted providers close to home.
Part of a Broader Care Network
ChristianaCare Hospital, Aston is just one piece of a wider plan to meet growing health needs in southeastern Pennsylvania. The system is also opening additional neighborhood hospitals in Springfield Township and West Grove, with West Grove expected to become ChristianaCare’s first operational hospital in the state this summer.
In a further sign of commitment to the region, ChristianaCare recently secured a winning bid to acquire multiple Crozer Health outpatient centers in Glen Mills, Havertown, Broomall and Media — an investment that will help restore services in areas impacted by recent health facility closures.
“From emergency services to specialty care in a modern, welcoming environment, it’s thoughtfully designed to meet the everyday health needs of this community,” Bennett added.
“We’re excited for what’s ahead and honored to be part of this next chapter in care.”
Honoring the Community
The beam-signing wasn’t just symbolic — it was a chance for staff, leaders, and local partners to inscribe messages of hope and encouragement for the future patients and families who will rely on the new hospital.
“This project shows our promise to keep health care close to home for our neighbors, and that’s something we take very seriously,” Corso said.
By investing in neighborhood hospitals and outpatient centers, ChristianaCare aims to reduce unnecessary emergency room visits at larger hospitals, cut down travel times for patients, and ensure more families receive the care they need — when they need it — right in their own communities.
When complete, ChristianaCare Hospital, Aston will become an essential piece of a more connected, community-focused care network — helping Delaware County families live healthier, safer lives for years to come.
