
Construction has reached a major milestone on a new military housing project in Southern California as work advances on a modern recruit barracks designed to support Marine Corps training operations. Clark Construction has completed the structural phase of the P-314 Recruit Barracks at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego.
The three-story, 121,600-square-foot facility is being developed for Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. The project will provide open-bay sleeping areas for recruits, dedicated spaces for drill instructors, two company offices and additional support buildings, along with site landscaping and hardscape improvements.
The structural milestone follows extensive site preparation and foundation work completed by the project team.
Construction activities to date have included handling more than 18,000 cubic yards of soil during excavation, installing 314 aggregate base piers for foundation stabilization, placing approximately 8,400 cubic yards of concrete, and installing more than 1,114 tons of reinforcing steel. Crews also completed more than 5,560 linear feet of underground utility infrastructure, including storm drainage, sewer, domestic water, fire protection, gas and electrical systems.
Clark Construction reported that the project has surpassed 60,000 safe work hours during construction.
With the primary structural work complete, crews will begin exterior masonry walls, construct a standalone laundry facility, complete roof parapet work and continue interior rough-in activities as the project progresses toward its planned 2028 completion.
