
SALIDA, Colo. — Aug. 12, 2026 — Construction is advancing at Cleora, a 55-acre residential development in Salida, Colorado, where developers are deploying 3D-printing and autonomous construction robotics at community scale.
The development is planned to include 106 residences and is expected to become one of the largest planned 3D-printed residential communities in the world. Infrastructure work is complete, seven homes have been constructed, several homes have been sold and additional residences are under construction.
Cleora was developed by Cleora in partnership with True North, its dedicated 3D-printing general contractor. The project team selected RIC Robotics to provide construction robotics and 3D-printing technology, with more than 65 homes expected to use the systems.
Two autonomous RIC Robotics printing systems are currently operating at the site.
The development represents a shift from small-scale 3D-printed housing demonstrations toward broader deployment of automated construction technology. Project leaders said the community is intended to demonstrate how robotics can address challenges involving construction labor availability, efficiency and scalability.
The project follows nearly seven years of research into construction technology, development strategies and scalable housing solutions.
RIC Robotics CEO Ryan Cox said the project demonstrates how robotics can be integrated into a real residential community at meaningful scale while addressing construction efficiency, workforce development and long-term community growth.
True North is also constructing its first model home at Cleora, with the building shell expected to be completed in August.
Cleora is being positioned as more than a residential development. Through a partnership with Colorado Mountain College, the project will provide students with hands-on exposure to robotics, 3D-printing construction technologies and digital design software.
The partnership is expected to support future training and certification programs focused on emerging construction technologies while helping address labor shortages across the construction industry.
The development also includes the county's first 3D-printed metro district. The district is designed to support infrastructure and essential services including commercial and recreational facilities, utilities and water treatment.
With homes already completed and additional construction underway, Cleora is intended to demonstrate how robotic construction systems can be incorporated into larger residential developments rather than limited to individual demonstration homes.
