INDIANAPOLIS, May 28, 2025 — Comcast has officially begun construction on a new next-generation internet network across several Indiana counties including Fayette, Rush, Delaware, Boone, Shelby, Morgan, and Miami. This project will bring high-speed broadband access to over 10,000 residents and businesses, offering the full range of Comcast’s Xfinity and Comcast Business services such as built-in cybersecurity, affordable internet plans, and diverse video entertainment options.

The telecommunications giant has invested more than $80 billion nationwide in the past decade to enhance and expand its fiber-rich network infrastructure. Within Indiana alone, Comcast has committed nearly $600 million over the last three years to improve connectivity statewide.

This initiative is part of a significant joint investment alongside the State of Indiana’s Next Level Connections Broadband Grant Program, which has dedicated $350 million to expanding broadband access and adoption throughout the state.

“We are working to ensure that every Hoosier has access to high-speed, reliable, affordable broadband,” said Steve Cox, Indiana's Chief Broadband Officer. “Connecting every corner of our state will provide economic mobility and connect residents and businesses to a better quality of life. With this partnership, Comcast is helping us make that happen.”

Comcast’s commitment to rural and underserved areas continues to deepen with this construction effort. Joni Hart, Vice President of Government Affairs for Comcast Indiana, emphasized the importance of the project, stating, “Comcast is proud to continue its commitment to rural Hoosiers by kicking off construction work and ensuring even more homes have access to faster and more reliable Internet. Through our network that delivers 99.9% reliability, residents can participate in services like e-learning, utilize healthcare online, and rely on broadband access in their communities.”

Comcast’s network in Indiana boasts more than 49,000 miles of fiber, enabling internet speeds faster than a gigabit for residential and business customers alike. The company also operates over 65,500 WiFi hotspots throughout the state, supporting connectivity on the go for Hoosiers.

The company highlights its network’s strength not only in speed but in reliability and security. Trusted by critical community institutions such as hospitals, schools, and first responders, Comcast’s infrastructure supports essential services with multi-gigabit speeds and built-in cybersecurity features designed to protect users from online threats.

For consumers, Comcast offers Xfinity and NOW services that include internet, video, mobile, voice, and home security products. The powerful WiFi solutions cover every corner of homes, allowing seamless streaming, video conferencing, remote work, and online learning.

Local businesses benefit from Comcast Business’s extensive suite of solutions, including connectivity, networking, cybersecurity, and managed services designed to help enterprises grow and thrive. Comcast Business is recognized by industry analysts as a leader in Ethernet services and scalable business solutions.

Beyond building infrastructure, Comcast is dedicated to closing the digital divide in Indiana. Its Internet Essentials program provides affordable internet and computer options to eligible households. Since 2011, more than 772,000 Hoosiers have connected to the internet through this initiative, promoting digital inclusion and economic opportunity.
