Consolidated Construction Expands Millwork Capabilities

APPLETON, Wis. — June 27, 2025 — Consolidated Construction Company Inc. has taken another major step in scaling its in-house capabilities by launching a new, dedicated cabinet and carpentry facility in Clayton, a town just outside Neenah in northeastern Wisconsin.
The facility, located at the former Tuttle Lake Woodworking site near Highways 10 and 76, will significantly boost the company’s millwork production while also integrating experienced local talent. Along with acquiring the building and equipment, Consolidated has welcomed several of Tuttle Lake’s skilled professionals to its carpentry division—a move that aligns with broader industry efforts to address labor shortages in the skilled trades.

This investment is part of Consolidated’s long-term strategy to internalize more of its construction processes and strengthen quality control during the project delivery cycle. It follows the company’s 2016 partnership with Vincent Wood Works and its 2022 acquisition of James J. Calmes Construction, both of which expanded its self-perform capabilities.
“Our clients depend on us to deliver high-quality interior finishes on time and on budget, particularly in large-scale, time-sensitive projects like hotels, apartment complexes, and healthcare facilities,” said John Schneider, CEO of Consolidated Construction. “By strengthening our in-house millwork division, we improve quality control and scheduling during the final stages of construction—without compromising the craftsmanship our clients expect.”
The move also underscores a growing industry trend: general contractors increasingly bringing specialty work, such as millwork and interior carpentry, in-house to reduce project risk, improve turnaround times, and tackle skilled labor shortages head-on.
As demand for hospitality, multifamily, and healthcare construction remains strong in the Upper Midwest, the new Clayton facility will allow Consolidated to meet more aggressive timelines while maintaining control over finish details that often make or break client satisfaction.
The expansion enhances the company’s vertical integration at a time when other contractors continue to face supply chain and subcontractor availability challenges. With this facility, Consolidated is positioned to take on more complex buildouts while ensuring high standards of craftsmanship are maintained from framing to finish.
