RIVERTON, WY – The construction of a new medical center has officially begun in Riverton, marking a significant milestone for the community.

“Restoring medical security to our community is just so important,” said Corte McGuffey, Board Chair of Riverton Medical District.

The new facility will include a hospital and clinic located in Riverton, offering essential healthcare services to the area.

McGuffey emphasized the importance of the project, stating, “Healthcare is a huge part of the makeup of any community, and our board kind of came together, a group of community members came together and said we got to do something about this.”

The two-story building will feature 13 inpatient beds, two surgical suites, an emergency department with a trauma bay, and a helicopter pad. It will also house an outpatient clinic for both specialty and primary care services.

With support from Billings Clinic, McGuffey highlighted the role their expertise plays in the project’s success. “They have a great reputation, and they have been so supportive of us and our project and we really kind of fell in love with their mission.”

Although Billings Clinic will provide operational support, the hospital will remain locally owned and governed. “We will still own our facility and be locally governed. Being an affiliate means that they will help us with the operations side of things,” McGuffey added.

The project is expected to have a significant economic impact on Riverton, with McGuffey noting, “This will be the biggest project in Riverton since the community college, since Central Wyoming College was built.”

Located on Federal Blvd near Walmart, the new hospital is projected to be completed by late 2026. The $37 million loan for the project is the largest USDA loan granted in Wyoming's history.
