The campaign brings together businesses, community leaders and residents to drive measurable progress through the Association’s four key focus areas — discovery, advocacy, access and knowledge. Day’s appointment reflects both her professional leadership in construction and her personal commitment to advancing cardiovascular health.
“It’s a great honor to serve in this role,” said Day. “I look forward to partnering with our incredible volunteers and the American Heart Association to drive breakthroughs and implement proven solutions in science, policy and care for healthier people and communities. Creating lasting impact takes all of us. Together, we can build a healthier future for every person in Oregon and southwest Washington.”
Day brings a unique perspective to the role, combining executive experience in the construction sector with a deeply personal connection to heart disease. Her leadership is expected to help strengthen collaboration between the private sector and public health organizations.
“Katrina brings exceptional vision and energy as Hoffman Construction vice president. Her commitment to the American Heart Association’s mission, combined with a clear passion for improving the well-being of our community, makes her an outstanding choice to lead this year’s campaign,” said Derenda Schubert, volunteer board chair for the American Heart Association in Oregon and Southwest Washington and CEO of Bridge Meadows. “We welcome Katrina as chair of the Heart of Oregon and southwest Washington campaign, which unites leaders across our community to advance health and hope for everyone, everywhere.”
The Heart of Oregon and Southwest Washington initiative plays a critical role in advancing the Association’s mission at a regional level. By engaging stakeholders across industries, the campaign seeks to improve prevention, treatment and education related to cardiovascular disease and stroke.
A key highlight of the campaign will be the 2027 Heart Ball, scheduled for February 20, 2027. The event will bring together healthcare leaders, corporate partners and community advocates to celebrate progress, honor volunteers and share survivor stories. Major sponsors include OHSU Health, Hoffman Construction and Studson, reflecting strong support from both healthcare and construction sectors.

Day’s appointment also underscores the growing involvement of construction industry leaders in community health initiatives. As large employers with significant regional influence, construction firms like Hoffman Construction are increasingly participating in social impact programs that extend beyond jobsite safety into broader public health and wellness.
The collaboration between industry and nonprofit organizations is especially important as communities continue to address long-term health challenges, including heart disease — one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Leadership from professionals like Day can help bridge gaps between infrastructure development, workplace wellness and community health outcomes.
By aligning corporate leadership with public health goals, the campaign is positioned to create sustainable change, improve access to care and build healthier communities across Oregon and Southwest Washington.
