CTA Breaks Ground on New Green Meadow Elementary

Maynard, MA — July 16, 2025 — CTA Construction Managers has officially started construction on the new Green Meadow Elementary School in Maynard, Massachusetts. Designed by Mount Vernon Group Architects and managed by the town’s OPM, Colliers Project Leaders, the new facility broke ground last month and continues CTA’s extensive work building schools across the state.

The new 90,525-square-foot, two-story school will accommodate about 395 students in grades K–3 and feature a dedicated Pre-K program for roughly 100 young learners. It will also support about 110 teachers and staff.

“The school has been designed with a central core for shared public spaces—such as the gymnasium, cafetorium, administrative offices, health suite, and media center—flanked by two distinct classroom ‘neighborhoods’ that accommodate Pre-K through grade 3. These wings feature general and special education classrooms, support spaces, common areas, and student and staff restrooms,” said Chris LeBlanc, Senior Associate at Mount Vernon Group Architects.

Located on a 33-acre site bordered by neighborhoods, woods, and a town park, the new building is being constructed just 30 feet from the current Green Meadow Elementary—creating a highly active site with tight logistics. “Situated on a 33-acre site adjacent to residential neighborhoods, wooded land, and a town park, the new building is being constructed just 30 feet from the existing school—an active and logistically complex site. Once the new school is complete, the existing structure will be abated and demolished to make way for additional site development,” explained Phil Palumbo, Director at Colliers Project Leaders.

“CTA is honored to return to Maynard, where we previously built the award-winning Maynard High School,” said Lyle Coghlin, Principal at CTA Construction Managers. “We’re also proud to continue our longstanding partnerships with Mount Vernon Group Architects and Colliers Project Leaders. This project reflects our shared commitment to creating innovative and sustainable learning environments for Massachusetts communities.”

This is CTA’s fourth collaboration with Mount Vernon Group Architects and its fourth project with Colliers Project Leaders, extending more than a decade of teamwork delivering modern educational spaces across the Commonwealth.

Work on the foundation has already wrapped up, and the new Green Meadow Elementary is expected to open in time for the 2027–28 school year.

With sustainability in mind, the new Green Meadow Elementary will pursue energy-efficient systems and green building practices aligned with the district’s goals. CTA Construction Managers, a Waltham-based firm, has built more than $2 billion worth of projects, with a reputation for partnering with local certified small, minority, veteran, and women-owned businesses.
