DAVIS has broken ground on a 17,000-square-foot addition to the Food & Friends headquarters in Washington, D.C., supporting the organization's expanding meal production and nutrition services.

Facility Expansion Plans

The headquarters expansion will significantly increase Food & Friends' operational capacity by adding new food production and storage space.

Key project components include a commercial kitchen, expanded storage areas, private nutrition counseling rooms and a separate loading dock to improve delivery logistics.

The facility is designed to support increasing demand for medically tailored meals throughout the Washington metropolitan region.

Construction Phasing

DAVIS planned the project to allow Food & Friends to continue preparing and delivering meals during construction with minimal disruption to daily operations.

The nonprofit produced approximately 2.2 million meals in 2025, more than doubling its annual meal production since 2018. The expanded facility is intended to accommodate continued growth in food preparation and distribution.

Construction is scheduled for completion in 2027.
