Leadership changes at major construction businesses can shape regional project delivery, client engagement and operational priorities. DPR Construction has appointed Carlos Crabtree as business unit leader for its San Diego operations, where he will oversee business activities and support strategic initiatives across the region.
Crabtree brings 27 years of experience with DPR and an established background working with customers and project partners in San Diego. His responsibilities will include strengthening customer relationships, supporting project delivery and coordinating with regional teams.
Before the appointment, Crabtree served as a project executive, leading technically complex projects from preconstruction through construction. His work included guiding project resources, coordinating design and construction stakeholders, and supporting key delivery decisions.
Most recently, he worked as project executive during preconstruction for the redevelopment of UC San Diego Health’s Hillcrest Medical Campus.
DPR’s San Diego operations serve clients across healthcare, life sciences, advanced technology, higher education and commercial construction. Its customers include UC San Diego Health, Sharp HealthCare, Scripps Research and Neurocrine Biosciences.
The business unit’s work spans sectors that can require specialised building systems, technical coordination and early collaboration among owners, designers and construction teams.
DPR also uses self-perform construction and prefabrication capabilities as part of its project delivery approach. These methods can support coordination during preconstruction and construction, depending on project requirements.
Crabtree’s experience with complex projects and regional customers will inform his leadership of the San Diego business unit.
Alongside its construction activities, DPR supports community initiatives and provides grants through the DPR Foundation. Since 2022, these efforts in San Diego have represented nearly $1.8 million in combined value.
The leadership appointment places an experienced DPR executive at the head of a regional operation serving multiple construction markets. For owners and project partners, regional leadership can influence customer engagement, coordination and the implementation of project delivery strategies across a portfolio.
