Transit agencies across North America are expanding and modernizing infrastructure to accommodate rising public transportation demand, creating opportunities for large-scale rail and transit construction. FlatironDragados is supporting that investment through projects ranging from new light rail systems to major commuter and intercity rail upgrades.
The company's current and completed work includes transportation systems in multiple U.S. states and Canadian provinces, with projects addressing capacity, connectivity, resilience and long-term system reliability.
FlatironDragados' transit portfolio includes several major light rail developments. In Maryland, the company is involved with the 16-mile Purple Line, which will connect Montgomery and Prince George's counties with existing Metrorail, MARC, Amtrak and bus services.
In Ontario, the company's work includes the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit project and the Metrolinx Finch West Light Rail Transit project. The Eglinton project includes 19 kilometers of light rail, 10 kilometers of underground track, bridges and 25 stations and stops. The Finch West project adds 11 kilometers of dedicated light rail, 16 surface stops, an underground interchange station and a maintenance and storage facility.
Other rail work includes downtown light rail reconstruction in Denver and improvements to the G Line in California, where rail and bridge upgrades are being delivered to expand transit access in Los Angeles County.
The portfolio also includes projects focused on rail capacity and infrastructure resilience. The Link Union Station project in California involves new run-through tracks on an elevated rail yard intended to increase Los Angeles Union Station capacity, improve connections and support Amtrak and Metrolink operations.
In Maryland, the Susquehanna River Bridge project involves major improvements to rail infrastructure serving commuter, freight and intercity passenger traffic along the Northeast Corridor.
FlatironDragados is also working on resilience improvements in New York through its subsidiary SPC Construction. The Rockaway Resilience and Rehabilitation project involves repairs and rehabilitation of viaduct infrastructure along the Rockaway Line to address flood risks and support reliable rail service.
The company's transit portfolio further includes the Franconia-Springfield Bypass in Virginia, which will cross two freight tracks along the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac rail corridor to improve passenger train operations.
FlatironDragados' project portfolio illustrates the range of construction required to expand and maintain modern transit networks, from new dedicated rail corridors and stations to bridge rehabilitation, rail-yard capacity improvements and flood resilience work.
The projects also require coordination among transportation agencies, regulators, communities and infrastructure stakeholders. Together, the work addresses capacity, connectivity, reliability and resilience across heavily used transportation systems in the United States and Canada.
