A well-known Birmingham restaurant is being recreated at its original location, with Frank Rewold & Sons overseeing construction as general contractor.
Hunter House, known for its sliders and fries, is being replicated near Woodward Avenue and Maple Road in downtown Birmingham. During construction, the restaurant has continued serving customers from a food truck.
The project requires the construction team to reproduce the character and appearance associated with the restaurant's longtime building while delivering a functioning contemporary restaurant.
For Frank Rewold & Sons, the project combines several areas of construction experience. The Rochester Hills-based contractor has previously worked on historic preservation projects as well as restaurants and commercial kitchens.
The Hunter House reconstruction differs from those individual project types because it requires elements of replication alongside restaurant construction. The resulting work involves balancing the recognizable characteristics of the original property with the requirements of a new building.
Restaurant redevelopment can require contractors to address both operational requirements and established architectural identities.
