Strong financial leadership is a key component of long-term growth for construction and real estate organizations managing large development portfolios. Gilbane has appointed Robert Dillard as chief financial officer to oversee financial strategy and capital allocation across its integrated real estate, development and construction operations.
Robert Dillard will assume responsibility for financial strategy, strategic investments and enterprise finance activities for Gilbane, the parent organization of Gilbane Building, Gilbane Development and affiliated businesses.
He succeeds Robert Murray, who is retiring after serving as the company's chief financial officer.
Dillard brings more than two decades of experience in corporate finance, capital allocation, mergers and acquisitions, and executive leadership across industrial businesses and capital markets. Before joining Gilbane, he served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of a publicly traded homebuilding company.
Based in Providence, Rhode Island, Dillard holds a degree in economics and an MBA from the University of North Carolina.
Gilbane operates as a privately held real estate development and construction organization with integrated capabilities spanning real estate investment, development, construction, and property and facilities management.
The company reported that it operates a $10 billion enterprise with more than 45 offices and over 4,000 employees worldwide. Dillard's responsibilities will include supporting capital investment decisions and financial management as Gilbane continues expanding its integrated business platform.
Executive leadership changes in finance can influence investment planning, capital allocation and long-term business strategy across construction and development companies. For construction owners, developers and industry partners, Gilbane's CFO appointment reinforces the importance of financial oversight in managing large project portfolios and supporting continued organizational growth.
