Transportation agencies across fast-growing western U.S. markets continue advancing corridor expansion projects aimed at improving regional mobility and accommodating population growth.
Granite announced it has been awarded the West Davis Corridor expansion project by the Utah Department of Transportation in West Point, Utah. The contract carries an estimated value of approximately $116.9 million.
The project will extend the recently completed West Davis Corridor, also identified as SR-177, by approximately three miles in northern Davis County.
Construction activities include development of nine new bridges, installation of two pedestrian crossings and placement of about 70,000 tons of asphalt paving material.
The work program also requires placement of more than one million cubic yards of borrow material as part of corridor grading and embankment operations.
According to Granite, the expansion is intended to improve traffic flow and strengthen transportation connectivity within the northern portion of Davis County.
Granite plans to use its regional materials operations to support project delivery.
The company’s Wells Pit facility will provide approximately 400,000 cubic yards of borrow material and 350,000 tons of mechanically stabilized earth fill for the project.
Granite’s West Haven asphalt plant will supply roughly 70,000 tons of hot mix asphalt.
The contract award will be included in Granite’s second-quarter 2026 committed and awarded projects activity.
Utah continues to advance major transportation investments as state agencies respond to sustained population growth and increased travel demand along Wasatch Front corridors.
For contractors and construction owners, corridor expansion projects involving bridges, grading and paving typically generate substantial opportunities for regional subcontractors, aggregate suppliers and specialty transportation contractors.
Projects that integrate roadway expansion with pedestrian infrastructure and structural work also require coordinated scheduling across earthwork, bridge construction and paving operations to maintain delivery timelines and traffic management requirements.
