Environmental engineering and construction management firms continue to rely on experienced technical leaders as project portfolios expand across remediation and infrastructure markets. GZA has promoted Dan Amate to District Office Manager, giving him responsibility for the firm's Metro Philadelphia and Hammonton offices.
Amate will oversee GZA's office in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, along with its Hammonton, New Jersey, location. The offices support clients across the Mid-Atlantic region.
Amate is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware and West Virginia. His professional background includes more than two decades of work involving the design and construction management of soil, sediment and groundwater remediation projects.
His experience includes projects at former manufactured gas plant sites, Superfund locations within EPA Regions 2 and 3, and manufacturing facilities.
Amate holds a bachelor's degree in Environmental Systems Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. He also serves as president of the Society of American Military Engineers Philadelphia Post and chairs the organization's Design and Construction Issues at Hazardous Waste Sites East Symposium.
Amate succeeds John Oberer as District Office Manager for the Metro Philadelphia operations. Oberer will continue serving GZA as a Principal and Senior Vice President from the company's Hammonton office.
The transition is part of a planned leadership succession process within GZA. Maintaining experienced technical leadership is particularly relevant to environmental engineering practices that manage complex remediation, regulatory and construction-related assignments.
The leadership change places an engineer with extensive remediation and construction management experience in charge of two offices serving the Mid-Atlantic market. For owners and contractors involved in environmental remediation, redevelopment and hazardous-site work, local technical leadership can play an important role in coordinating engineering services and project delivery requirements.
