For construction companies working with nonprofit and community organizations, project delivery can extend beyond building improvements to creating spaces that support essential services. HarperXS has partnered with Front Porch Housing in Greenville, South Carolina, on construction and renovation projects supporting the nonprofit’s supportive housing program.

Over the past year, the HarperXS team completed work involving a childcare facility and two medical offices. The spaces were designed to provide dedicated locations for childcare and basic medical and dental services for individuals and families participating in Front Porch Housing’s programs.

Construction Work Supports Community Services

The projects focused on creating durable and functional spaces that could support Front Porch Housing’s services from a central location.

Because many of the nonprofit’s programs rely on volunteers, reliable facilities are important to maintaining consistent service delivery. The completed childcare and medical spaces provide infrastructure for services that address multiple needs within the supportive housing program.

The partnership forms part of Front Porch Housing’s three-year effort to provide supportive housing and resources intended to help individuals and families establish long-term stability.

HarperXS Donates Project Profits

Following completion of the work, HarperXS donated all project profit back to Front Porch Housing to provide additional support for the nonprofit’s mission.

The partnership demonstrates one model for construction companies to contribute professional expertise and financial resources to community organizations while completing projects that expand access to essential services.

Why It Matters

Community-based construction projects can create lasting value when building improvements are tied directly to services such as housing, healthcare and childcare. For contractors, partnerships with nonprofit organizations can also provide opportunities to apply construction expertise to facilities that serve populations with significant community needs.

The HarperXS and Front Porch Housing partnership illustrates how construction delivery and nonprofit investment can work together to improve the physical infrastructure supporting social services.
