Helm Teams Support West Pullman Housing Construction

Construction professionals from Helm Group joined volunteers in Chicago to support the construction of new homes through Habitat for Humanity Chicago’s 2026 Women Build initiative.

Two teams from Helm participated in the Oct. 1 kickoff at Maple Park Landing, a townhome development in the West Pullman neighborhood. The volunteers worked alongside participants from across Chicago as part of the housing construction effort.

The project is part of Habitat Chicago’s broader effort to expand access to safe and stable housing for local families.

Women Build Expands Community Construction Effort

The 2026 Women Build campaign is the largest in Habitat for Humanity Chicago’s 14-year history. More than 700 women are expected to take part in construction activities supporting eight homes during the fall campaign.

The initiative also has a fundraising target of more than $750,000. Funds raised through the program support the construction of homes and broader housing efforts in the Chicago community.

For participating construction professionals, the event provides an opportunity to contribute field knowledge and labor to a residential development serving local families.

Construction Workforce Supports Housing Access

Helm's participation highlights the role construction companies can play in community-based housing initiatives. Employees contribute hands-on work while collaborating with nonprofit organizations, volunteers and other industry participants.

Maple Park Landing provides the setting for this year's effort, bringing together construction workers and community volunteers to help advance residential development in West Pullman.

Why It Matters

Community housing programs such as Women Build connect construction workforce participation with local housing needs. Industry involvement can provide additional labor and expertise while helping nonprofit organizations advance residential projects for families seeking stable housing.
