Hensel Phelps received four project awards at the 2026 Build Hawaii Awards, highlighting construction work across critical infrastructure, federal facilities and hospitality projects in Hawaii. The projects demonstrate the range of construction requirements involved in maintaining operations while upgrading complex facilities.
The General Contractors Association of Hawaii recognized the Repair Wastewater Treatment Plant Effluent Pump Station Building 1357 with an Award of Excellence in the Specialty Construction category for projects valued at $3 million and above. The $19.9 million project at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam upgraded wastewater infrastructure serving up to 40,000 people and was completed four months ahead of schedule.
The 24-Inch Water Transmission Line Replacement project received an Award of Excellence in Utility Infrastructure Construction. The Glen/Mar-Hensel Phelps Joint Venture replaced the transmission line between Hospital Point and Hickam while maintaining water service to mission-critical facilities. Construction required coordination around contaminated groundwater, existing utilities and complex shutdown requirements.
In the Federal Construction category, the Aircraft Maintenance Hangar received an Award of Excellence. The 88,030-square-foot, three-story facility includes high-bay space for six Black Hawk helicopters, two 10-ton bridge cranes, repair shops, storage, offices and mission-support areas.
The Four Seasons Osteria Mozza Lanai and Front Entry Renovations project received an Award of Excellence in the Renovation/Remodeling category for projects under $10 million.
The work upgraded dining and arrival areas at Four Seasons Resort Lanai while the property continued operating. Improvements included new food-service facilities, indoor-outdoor dining areas and changes to the resort's arrival environment.
The four awards underscore the construction challenges involved in delivering upgrades without disrupting essential services or ongoing operations. For owners and contractors, the projects highlight the importance of phased execution, coordination with active facilities and schedule management across infrastructure, federal and hospitality construction.
