Advanced manufacturing and aerospace construction activity continues expanding across the Southeast as states compete for large-scale industrial investment tied to aviation and defense production. HITT Contracting has begun construction work on the first phase of JetZero’s manufacturing and final assembly campus in Greensboro, North Carolina, a project intended to support production of next-generation aircraft systems.
The overall campus development is planned across more than 600 acres and will eventually total approximately 8 million square feet of manufacturing and assembly space.
The initial phase of construction centers on the North Carolina Composite Center, or NC3, a 150,000-square-foot build-to-suit aerospace manufacturing and research facility.
HITT Contracting is overseeing construction activities in coordination with project partners including Savills, FSB Architects & Engineers, Kimley-Horn and Siemens. The project team is also working with the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority as site development advances.
The NC3 facility is intended to support aerospace manufacturing operations, composite materials production and research and development activities tied to JetZero’s aircraft program.
Construction activities are already underway in Greensboro, with additional hiring and phased campus expansion planned over the coming decade.
Large-scale aerospace manufacturing projects have become an increasingly active segment of industrial construction as companies expand domestic production capacity and invest in research-driven manufacturing facilities.
North Carolina has continued attracting aviation, advanced manufacturing and logistics developments because of transportation access, workforce availability and industrial infrastructure investment.
Facilities supporting composite manufacturing, research operations and aircraft assembly typically require specialized construction coordination involving utilities, process systems, large-scale industrial infrastructure and advanced building technologies.
For contractors, developers and industrial facility owners, the JetZero campus reflects continued demand for large-scale aerospace and advanced manufacturing construction projects across the Southeast.
The development also highlights growing investment in research-oriented industrial facilities that combine manufacturing, engineering and technology operations within integrated campuses. Projects of this scale create opportunities across civil construction, utilities, specialty trades, process infrastructure and industrial building sectors.
