HITT Expands with Acquisition of NJ Healthcare Builder

Falls Church, Virginia-based HITT Contracting has expanded its footprint in the healthcare construction sector with the acquisition of Central Consulting & Contracting, a Newark, New Jersey-based firm specializing in healthcare construction. The announcement, made on March 11, highlights HITT’s strategy to bolster its ability to meet the growing demand for medical facilities in the region.
As part of the deal, Richard Simone, the CEO of Central Consulting & Contracting, has transitioned to HITT’s New York office as vice president. Simone will work closely with the New York leadership team to ensure a smooth integration, while Central's existing team members have officially joined HITT as well. This move brings more than 70 team members to HITT’s New York-based operations.

The acquisition positions HITT to capitalize on the increasing demand for healthcare infrastructure, particularly in one of the fastest-growing healthcare markets in the U.S., according to the company.
Expansion into the Tri-State Area: A Strategic Move for HITT
HITT’s acquisition of Central strengthens its presence across the tri-state area, including New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, a region with an increasing need for healthcare construction services due to population growth and the aging demographic. Industry experts suggest this presents a significant opportunity for construction firms. Mary Scott Nabers, CEO of Strategic Partnerships Inc., a consulting and research firm, noted in a Dec. 10 opinion piece, “The need for medical facilities and healthcare construction as America’s population ages presents a wealth of new opportunities for contractors throughout the country.”
Central Consulting & Contracting adds a strong portfolio of completed healthcare projects and established relationships with leading healthcare institutions in the tri-state area. Notable clients include Englewood Health, Montefiore Health System, and St. Barnabas Health System Bronx.
HITT declined to disclose the terms of the acquisition deal.
“For more than 30 years, Central has been a trusted leader in healthcare construction, earning a strong reputation across the New York region. We’re proud to welcome their team of experts to HITT,” said Andre Grebenstein, HITT’s vice president and New York office leader.
Looking Ahead: New Opportunities for Healthcare Construction
The acquisition comes at a time when the demand for healthcare facilities is expected to continue to rise, driven by both an aging population and advancements in healthcare technology. According to industry insiders, this trend is expected to create numerous opportunities for companies like HITT, especially in high-growth markets such as New York and New Jersey.
Healthcare construction is one of the most resilient sectors in the construction industry, with hospitals, clinics, and other medical facilities being essential components of any community. HITT's strategic expansion aims to position itself as a leader in this growing market, which is expected to see substantial investment in the coming years.
By integrating Central’s expertise and network of relationships with key healthcare providers, HITT is poised to be a major player in the healthcare construction field, contributing to the development of modern, state-of-the-art medical facilities that will serve the needs of the region for years to come.
