Expanding access to healthcare services remains a priority for rapidly growing communities, and new medical facilities continue to drive healthcare construction activity across Texas. Hoar Construction has broken ground on a $37 million medical office building for Central Health in Austin, adding a new healthcare hub to the Colony Park development in East Austin.
The 32,000-square-foot project is expected to be completed in summer 2027 and will provide clinical, diagnostic and support services for residents in the surrounding area.
The four-story Colony Park Health & Wellness Center will house multiple healthcare services within a single facility. Plans include patient care rooms, a dental clinic, a pharmacy, laboratory and kitchen, while the building's lower level will accommodate mechanical and utility equipment.
The project also includes construction of a two-story parking garage connected to the medical office building to support patients, staff and visitors.
Hoar Construction is serving as the general contractor. Project partners include HKS Architects, structural engineer Datum Rios LLC and Moose Engineers for mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering.
The building site requires extensive grading because the facility is being constructed into the side of a hill, creating ground-level access on both the first and second floors. The design requires significant earthwork and careful site coordination during the early stages of construction.
The project also incorporates a stormwater reuse system that will collect runoff in a cistern within the parking structure for landscape irrigation. Reclaimed water will be distributed through a dedicated piping network designed to support local water conservation objectives.
Demand for outpatient healthcare facilities continues to grow as providers expand access to community-based services.
