HPM is expanding its professional services capabilities with a new engineering practice designed to give project owners additional support from early planning through construction and completion.
The new Engineering Services Division is led by Cameron Thorne, P.E., who joined HPM as director of engineering. The expansion adds engineering expertise to HPM's existing program management, owner's representation and project leadership services.
The new division gives HPM an additional role in project development, allowing the company to support clients before design and construction activities are fully defined. The engineering practice is intended to help owners evaluate opportunities, establish project requirements and coordinate technical considerations earlier in the process.
HPM's existing service portfolio includes planning, facilities assessment, preconstruction, procurement, project and program management, owner's representation, field coordination and project controls. The engineering addition broadens that offering while connecting technical services with project leadership.
Thorne brings 18 years of experience in engineering and consulting. Before joining HPM, he spent about a decade with an Alabama-based engineering firm, progressing from design structural engineer to vice president of engineering.
His experience includes pulp and paper, chlor-alkali, manufacturing, power production, chemical and industrial facilities. He also has experience working with contractors during the transition from design into construction.
The background positions the new engineering division to support projects where owners need technical expertise alongside program and construction management services.
HPM said the engineering practice will allow the organization to engage with clients earlier, including during initial concept development. The service can help define project scope and identify requirements before projects advance into later planning and execution stages.
For owners, earlier technical coordination can help establish clearer project requirements and reduce gaps among disciplines and consultants. HPM's expansion also creates an integrated service model that combines engineering with its existing project management and owner's representation capabilities.
Adding engineering services expands the range of project support available through HPM and gives owners another option for coordinating technical and management needs during early project development.
