Jabil Announces $70 Million X-Ray Sterilization Facility in Marshall County, Mississippi

Florida-based manufacturing giant Jabil is making a significant expansion into Mississippi with the construction of a $70 million, 100,000-square-foot healthcare facility in Marshall County. The new site, unveiled Thursday by company officials, Gov. Tate Reeves, and the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA), will focus on x-ray sterilization for medical devices and is expected to create 24 high-tech jobs over the next three years.

Gov. Tate Reeves hailed the announcement as proof of Mississippi’s growing reputation as a destination for private investment.
“Mississippi’s record-breaking economic development success isn’t letting up. Jabil’s $70 million investment in Marshall County is another great private-sector investment for our state,” Reeves said. “Companies believe in Mississippi. They know Mississippi can meet their speed-to-market needs and that our workforce will deliver results. I can’t say it enough: the ‘Mississippi Momentum’ is real, it’s powerful, and this truly is our time.”

Why Mississippi?

Jabil, whose healthcare division specializes in manufacturing, supply chain expertise, engineering, and product design for the medical industry, chose Mississippi for its cost advantages, speed-to-market capabilities, and proximity to major logistics hubs. The new site will sit strategically near Memphis, enabling easy access to national and global distribution networks.
“At Jabil, we support our customers’ goals by investing in capabilities and localities that keep their products moving forward efficiently and cost effectively,” said Mike Mahaz, Jabil SVP Global Business Units – Healthcare. “Our anticipated sterilization site, strategically located in Marshall County near our Memphis transportation hub, is the latest example of these efforts. We are grateful to Mississippi’s state and local representatives for supporting our new Jabil site and the jobs it will bring.”

State and Local Support

The Mississippi Development Authority is playing a pivotal role in the project, offering support through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive (MFLEX) program, site preparation, and construction assistance. Local partners including the Marshall County Board of Supervisors and Tennessee Valley Authority are also providing resources to ensure the project’s success.

MDA Executive Director Bill Cork emphasized the importance of partnerships in bringing such projects to the state.
“Jabil’s new location in Marshall County is another great example of MDA and our local partners driving record-shattering economic development,” Cork said. “Mississippi leaders have built one of the most attractive and supportive business environments in the country — one that offers an arsenal of resources that make companies like Jabil choose to locate here. We’re proud to support Jabil as it breaks new ground in Marshall County and brings new high-tech opportunities to the region’s workforce.”

Economic and Workforce Impact

The new facility, slated to open by late 2027, represents more than just a capital investment. It will provide skilled employment opportunities in healthcare manufacturing while strengthening the state’s growing presence in the medical technology and advanced manufacturing sectors.

Mississippi has seen an influx of large-scale investments across multiple industries in recent years, a trend state leaders describe as “Mississippi Momentum.” Jabil’s project reinforces the state’s position as a competitive and reliable hub for advanced business operations.
