Continued investment in highway infrastructure across the United Kingdom is generating new opportunities for engineering, design, and construction management firms. Jacobs has expanded its role with National Highways after securing three contracts that include bridge design services and project management responsibilities for multiple transportation improvement programs.
Two of the awards were made under the National Highways Technical Assurance and Asset Management Framework.
Jacobs will provide detailed design services for the M32 Eastville Viaduct in Bristol, covering later stages of the asset renewal program. The viaduct is a key transportation corridor linking Bristol with the M4 and M5 motorways and supports both commuter and freight traffic.
The company will also complete preliminary design work for the M5 Wynhol Viaduct, evaluating structural conditions and developing engineering options intended to improve the long-term performance of the bridge.
In addition to the design commissions, Jacobs has been selected for National Highways' Construction and Professional Management Services Lot 2 framework.
Under the agreement, Jacobs will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering a minimum of 15 transportation projects. The framework has an initial three-year duration with options to extend for two additional one-year terms.
The awards expand Jacobs' existing involvement in National Highways' transportation portfolio, which also includes support for the Lower Thames Crossing program.
Long-term framework agreements continue to provide a steady pipeline of transportation infrastructure work for engineering consultants, contractors, and specialty firms. For construction owners and project stakeholders, these contracts support the renewal of critical highway assets, improve infrastructure reliability, and create opportunities for firms involved in bridge rehabilitation, design engineering, construction management, and program delivery.
